Huey Pierce Long (1893-1935) was a prominent left-wing populist politician, who served as Governor of Louisiana (1928-1932) and as a US Senator (1932-1935). Long denounced wealthy elites and bankers; his 'Share Our Wealth' redistribution plan for combating the poverty and unemployment of the Great Depression proposed a net asset tax. Long's tenure in Louisiana is associated with the development of infrastructure, and healthcare and education initiatives to help the poor, and he was notable for seeking to help both blacks and whites at a time of racial division in the American South. Long was shot in September 1935, and according to one source, his last words were "I have so much to do."

Half Panama unbleached cotton (heavy weight, textured finish). Stitched on all four sides. Includes hanging loop. Measures approximately 19in x 27.5in. Machine wash at 110 degrees max. We recommend that before you use your tea towel for the first time you wash it at least once to soften up the material and make it more absorbent for drying dishes. Please note size can vary slightly.
