This colourful, A4 wall calendar, with 12 pages plus cover and board back includes important dates for the year ahead, both upcoming (such as holidays, important festivals, conferences, etc) and historic (milestones in popular rights etc).

In this year's Radical Calendar, the theme is 'Strikes in History'. Each month is illustrated by a striking (!) design as follows:

  • January - The 1905 General Strike in Russia, triggered by Bloody Sunday, which severely disrupted the economy and pressured the Tsar into constitutional concessions.

  • February - The February Strike of 1941, a massive general strike in Nazi-occupied Amsterdam and the first mass public protest by non-Jews against the deportation of Jews in Europe.

  • March - The UK Miners' Strike of 1984–1985, a pivotal industrial dispute against pit closures that ended in a bitter victory for Margaret Thatcher's free-market policies.

  • April - The Burston School Strike (1914–1939), the longest strike in British educational history, triggered by the dismissal of teachers Tom and Annie Higdon.

  • May - 'Mai 68', the explosive wave of student protests and a ten-million-strong general strike that brought the French economy to a halt.

  • June - The Winnipeg General Strike of 1919, a major Canadian labour protest demanding union recognition that culminated in the violence of "Bloody Saturday".

  • July - The Matchgirls Strike of 1888, a landmark collective action by women and girls protesting toxic working conditions at the Bryant & May factory in London.

  • August - The Solidarity Strikes in Poland, beginning in 1980, which forced the government to recognise the first independent trade union in the communist bloc.

  • September - The 1934 US Textile Workers Strike, involving 400,000 workers protesting poor wages, long hours, and the punishing 'stretch-out' system.

  • October - The 1975 Icelandic Women's Strike ('Women's Day Off'), an action where 90% of Icelandic women brought society to a standstill by refusing to work, cook, or clean.

  • November - The 1959 US Steel Strike, a massive walkout of half a million steelworkers that shut down the American steel industry.

  • December - The Deir el-Medina Strike (c. 1158 BCE), widely considered the first recorded labour strike in history, staged by hungry artisans building royal tombs in Egypt.
